I tend to share with my 8yr-old daughter the more optimistic side of the issue, e.g.: We can turn off our lights for annual "Earth Hour"; I speak frequently of my desire to replace my car with a plugin vehicle; I explain that businesses have traditionally used unsustainable practices, but that we now have the knowledge and technology to do things right.
